According to reliable sources, an all-new Acura RDX is likely to make its debut in late 2017 or early 2018. Based on the best-selling Honda CR-V, the second-generation RDX has soldiered on since 2012 with much success. The time has come now for this luxury crossover to follow in the footsteps of the recently redesigned Honda CR-V 2018. Apart from exterior and interior updates, the 2018 Acura RDX will bring a new turbocharged four-cylinder as well. The automaker has yet to reveal details but we expect the next Acura RDX redesign to bring substantial improvements.
Design and Features
When it comes to the upcoming RDX’s exterior styling, information are still scarce. However, we expect Acura’s designers to bring it more in line with the brand’s new design language. Compared to the outgoing model, the 2018 Acura RDX will be slightly longer, wider and taller. Expect this sleek crossover also to benefit from marginally increased ground clearance. Its front fascia should receive a number of notable updates, including a new grille and restyled LED headlights. Despite receiving a thorough makeover, the RDX’s sheet metal will retain its familiar sleek and dynamic appearance.
Inside, expect to see a revised layout accentuated by a slew of high-end materials. Some of the most prominent updates will include a revamped instrument cluster with a large multi-information display between the gauges. Thanks to its larger dimensions, the Acura RDX 2018 will offer a more spacious and more comfortable cabin. On top of that, we expect it to adopt Honda’s latest safety and infotainment features.
2018 Acura RDX Specs
Recent reports hint that the 2018 Acura RDX is likely to come with a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, detailed engine specs are still unavailable. As for the current model, it uses a capable 3.5-liter V6 that makes 279 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain comes with a six-speed automatic transmission, offering both front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. Of course, we’ll be happy to share any new details on the engine specs as soon as they hit the web.
Pricing and Competition
Although it’s still too early to talk about pricing, we expect the new Acura RDX to start slightly higher than its predecessor. The ongoing model currently begins at $36,500, while the range-topping version costs around $45,000. The upcoming RDX will once again compete with the likes of Lincoln MKC, Infiniti QX30 and Volvo XC60.
