The Acura RLX is due to receive a host of updates for the 2018 model year. The flagship sedan from Honda’s luxury division is currently not as appealing as some of its rivals. However, the Japanese automaker continues to upgrade the RLX in an attempt to make it competitive for a few more years. In that regard, expect the 2018 Acura RLX to adopt yet another expansion of standard safety features. Moreover, the interior should receive new materials as well as a number of styling tweaks. Rumor has it that the upcoming model might hit the dealerships in the latter part of 2017.
Future Acura RLX
The RLX’s design is generally understated in comparison with other luxury sedans that are currently on sale. That’s not going to change much with the Acura RLX 2018. Although its sheet metal isn’t head-turning by any means, it still boasts a tastefully sculpted body. The front-end sports headlights housings that feature impressive 10 LED lighting elements. Regardless of the trim level, all models come with high-end features such as a power roof.
As you might expect, the 2018 Acura RLX will offer an amply equipped interior. The sedan’s five-passenger cabin comes replete with upscale materials and cutting-edge technology. Some of the most notable features include a slick dual-screen information system and a power-operated steering-wheel adjustment. As of recently, the RLX offers AcuraWatch system as standard across the lineup.
The base RLX models come with front-wheel drive and a 3.5-liter V6. The engine produces 310 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque, while using a six-speed automatic transmission. Now the 2018 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid AWD will have the same gas engine combined with three electric motors. Whereas two of those motors send their power to the rear wheels, the third one supplies the front wheels with engine torque. It also uses regenerative-braking energy and sends it to a lithium-ion battery pack. The gas-electric RLX gets a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and delivers 377 horses combined.
2018 Acura RLX Price
The 2018 Acura RLX is likely to retain the pricing of the current model. That means the entry-level model should cost around $55,000, with the RLX hybrid starting just over $61,000. These figures will make it slightly more expensive than its key rivals such as BMW 5 Series or Lexus GS. Now, the future Acura RLX is expected to bring substantial improvements in almost every aspect. Of course, we will be watching closely for any reports on the next-generation model.
