The current iteration of the Buick Enclave made its debut quite some time ago and the next generation of this popular model has been eagerly anticipated during the last few years. Thanks to a number of spy photos of a camouflaged Enclave spotted earlier this year in Nevada, we now know that the replacement for this nine-year old model is due to arrive for the 2018 MY. Sharing its platform with the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia, this SUV is currently Buick’s second best-selling model. After the upcoming redesign, the 2018 Buick Enclave will offer huge improvements when it comes to styling, mechanics and technology.
2018 Buick Enclave Changes
The 2018 Buick Enclave is expected to adopt a new lighter (Chi) platform that already underpins the Acadia. However, the Enclave will ride on a stretched version of the Chi platform that will enable it to feature three rows of seats. In other words, the upcoming model will be offered in either seven- or eight-passenger configurations. According to the spy shots of the test prototype, the new Enclave will be slimmer and more athletic than its predecessor. Apart from the trademark waterfall grille, the new front fascia will sport reshaped LED headlights as well as a redesigned front bumper. As for the interior, we expect to see a major overhaul that will bring a wide variety of new materials and features. The Enclave’s new cabin design will be greatly influenced by Buick’s recent models. Of course, the next generation of this dependable SUV is expected to further improve safety ratings which are already one of the highest in this segment.
According to a recent report, the 2018 Buick Enclave is likely to get GM’s new 3.6-liter V6 engine as well as a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The current version of this unit is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and generates 288 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque. In terms of power output, the all-new Enclave is expected to bring a mild increase. It is also likely to deliver improved fuel economy which is currently rated at 22 mpg (highway). Front-wheel drive will be offered as standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option.
2018 Buick Enclave Release Date and Pricing
The 2018 Buick Enclave is expected to make its public appearance in early 2017, hitting the market shortly afterwards. Pricing numbers are not expected to stray far from the current $40,000 for the base model.
