All of you who thought you saw an uncontrolled amount of luxury in the form of the Cadillac Concept, here’s another one. It’s been a long time since Cadillac Ciel was shown. 2011 was shown, but it did not fit in serial production. Just two years later, specifically 2013, the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept is the next one that has presented this brand to us. Just when it might be thought that by merging these two, a luxury sedan, coupe design could become a regular part of the offer, Cadillac opted for another concept. It’s the 2018 Cadillac Escala. This concept deserves a year ahead of its name and only for one reason!
We can freely say that the 2018 Cadillac Escala is another one in a row model that will overshadow the audience at prestige car shows. Nevertheless, for the first time, the company announces the use of many features of this concept in future models.
2018 Cadillac Escala Design
The design of the 2018 Cadillac Escala largely differs from the Elmiraj and Ciel concept models. What exactly the company could use from this model, some sources have tried to specify. The biggest sedan in the offer is the CT6. It’s the front of the vehicle. The 2018 Cadillac Escala has been positioned on the same Omega platform as the Cadillac CT6 sedan. However, the largest sedan in the offer, the CT6, is lagging behind in relation to the Escala concept. The 2018 Escala sedan has an average distance of 4.7 inches. It’s about 6.5 inches from the CT6, and the width is 2.7 inches higher. So, as far as dimension is concerned, Cadillac has a new flagship model, impressive size and specific design.
Escala model looks conventional and handsome. Unlike radical Ciel and the dramatic Elmiraj concepts. It has 22-inch tires. The wheels are more planted on the ground. This is less fancy than a preview concept. This is the new design language from Cadillac. The outer design of the Cadillac Escala 2018 model points to a foor-door hatchback rather than a sedan. The basic characteristics of the model are the wide, mesh grille, the vertical front lights, and brushed-metal trim. A familiar leather interior, in the case of Escala sedan, will not be present. The seats are coated with rolling wool material. That cloth is an unusual choice for luxury cars. Nevertheless, in this case it gives a special feature to the vehicle. Curved-OLED digital screens, panoramic glass roof, and thin A-pillars and the B-pillar contribute to the cabin’s airiness.
The CT6 model’s drive unit was not good enough for this model. Therefore, under the hood of 2018 Escala, a 4.2 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 500 hp was found. The CT6 is equipped with a 3.0 L V6 twin-turbocharged engine with 404 hp. For the time being, it has not yet been fully established which of these two engines actually offers the highest and the best performance for one such model.
