The Escalade SUV is currently the most recognizable model in Cadillac’s lineup. The ongoing iteration arrived for 2015, featuring an imposing appearance that can hardly be mistaken for any other car. When it comes to the luxury SUV segment, the Escalade is among top choices by any definition. Now, recent reports hint that the company intends to further improve this amazing SUV for 2018. That said, expect the 2018 Cadillac Escalade to offer a new trim level and new exterior colors. It should also benefit from a reshuffling of its equipment packages that will bring a wider array of safety systems. If everything goes as planned, the refreshed model could hit the showrooms in the second half of 2017.
Design and Features
The 2018 Cadillac Escalade should retain its imposing sheet metal almost intact. It will once again feature a bold and brash exterior styling that makes it unique in its class. The powerful front grille and full-LED headlights will be among its most notable features. At the back, expect to see long vertical taillights that also benefit from LED technology. Thanks to its body-on-frame chassis, the Escalade will offer an exceptionally spacious cabin. Expect the interior to come filled with soft-touch materials and eye-catching styling cues. Except for the extended ESV models, regular Escalades may be a little tight in the third row of seats.
Standard on all models will be a chromed grille with active aero shutters behind it. Other standard features will include a remote starter, heated seats as well as a tri-zone climate control. Base models should also get a hands-free power liftgate and 20-inch chrome-plated aluminum wheels.
2018 Escalade Specs
The 2018 Cadillac Escalade will continue to soldier on with its tried and tested V8 engine. The 6.2-liter unit will churn out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models will use an eight-speed automatic transmission. According to the EPA, the Escalade SUV delivers 15/22 mpg (city/highway).
2018 Cadillac Escalade Price
As for the 2018 Cadillac Escalade price tag, don’t expect dramatic changes compared to the outgoing model. The entry-level model is likely to start somewhere in the $75,000 range, while the long-wheelbase Escalade ESV will require additional $3,000. The Escalade’s key rivals will include the likes of Lincoln Navigator, Audi Q7 and Infiniti QX80.
