Although the Chevy TrailBlazer was originally conceived in the U.S., it’s no longer available on the American market. Namely, the company discontinued the model and replaced it with the Traverse back in 2008. However, the TrailBlazer continued to soldier on several other markets, including India, Thailand, Russia and Australia. As of recently, several independent sources have hinted that this great SUV might make its North American comeback. Moreover, the TrailBlazer is most likely to arrive as an all-new model for the 2018 model year. The automaker has yet to issue official statements but we expect the 2018 Chevrolet Trailblazer to arrive in late 2017.
2018 Chevrolet TrailBlazer Redesign
Detailed reports on the redesigned 2018 TrailBlazer USA version are still scarce. However, we do know that Chevy’s latest SUV should share its underpinnings with the new Colorado pickup truck. Expect also the upcoming model to come with a rear-wheel drive configuration and seven-passenger layout. In terms of exterior styling, it is likely to adopt the company’s latest design language. This means its front end should adopt a more aggressive look that will make it stand out on the street. As for the back side, expect it to sport more conventional styling cues just like the current global model. Inside, the 2018 Chevrolet TrailBlazer is due to receive a bevy of substantial changes. Its cabin will get a thorough makeover that should give it more premium materials as well as the latest technology. Of course, expect to see GM’s cutting-edge infotainment and safety features among other new amenities.
2018 Chevy Trailblazer Engine Specs
Some sources speculate that the all-new TrailBlazer could receive a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 that churns out 345 horses. A standard automatic gear box should transmit the engine’s power to the rear wheels, with a manual transmission also available. All-wheel drive is expected to come optional with upper trim levels. Unfortunately, details concerning the upcoming TrailBlazer’s performance and fuel economy are still unavailable. We’ll hopefully have more to share on that matter in the coming months.
GM’s decision to bring back the well-known TrailBlazer nameplate to the U.S. doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Over the last several years, demand for all sorts of SUVs has soared beyond any expectations. That said, we expect the 2018 Chevrolet TrailBlazer to become one of the brand’s most sought-after models.
