According to fresh reports, the Infiniti Q70 is due to receive a set of substantial changes for 2018. Rumored has it that a completely redesigned model will reportedly arrive as 2019 Infiniti Q70, in the fourth quarter of 2017. Having made its debut back in 2009, this luxury sedan is currently a bit long in the tooth. We expect the 2018 Infiniti Q70 to adopt a new lighter platform as well as a redesigned exterior. On top of that, the fifth-generation Q70 should benefit from a thoroughly upgraded interior and advanced technology.
2018 Infiniti Q70 Will be Redesigned
Details are still scarce when it comes to the new Q70’s exterior styling. However, we expect it to feature a much more modern sheet metal that’s in line with Infiniti’s latest design philosophy. Namely, the upcoming Q70 is very likely to borrow some of the styling cues from the QX Sport Inspiration concept. The recently revealed concept vehicle actually announced the 2018 Infiniti QX70 redesign. So, expect this high-end sedan to adopt more of the brand’s “Powerful Elegance” design language. On the other hand, the 2018 Infiniti Q70 is likely to retain some of its traditional styling cues. Those include the familiar double-arch front grille as well as crescent-cut C-pillar.
As for the interior, expect the 2018 Infiniti Q70 to bring even more radical changes. Unlike the current iteration that offers a cabin cluttered with buttons and dials, the new one will get a much cleaner design. We also expect the passenger space to grow in size slightly, providing more headroom and legroom. Detailed specs have yet to come but the overhauled Q70 will certainly boast Infiniti’s latest technology. In any case, expect to be a formidable rival to its European competition in terms of convenience and safety features.
We’re still in the dark when it comes to the 2018 Infiniti Q70’s engine specs. Rumor has it that it’s likely to use slightly enhanced versions of its current powertrains. As for the outgoing model, its base engine comes as a 3.7-liter V6 producing 330 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The most powerful engine is currently a 5.6-liter V8 that cranks out 420 hp and 417 lb-ft. Finally, the hybrid variant combines a conventional 3.5-liter V6 and a 50 kW electric motor. The system’s total power output is rated at 360 horsepower. All engines come with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing and Competition
The outgoing Q70 currently starts just above $50,000, while it can go up $65,000 when fully loaded. Although official pricing numbers are still unavailable, we expect the 2018 Infiniti Q70 to begin slightly higher than its predecessor. Some of its key rivals will include the likes of BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CT6 and Lexus GS.
