Following the mid-cycle update for the 2017 model year, the 2018 Jeep Cherokee is not expected to bring any overly dramatic changes. However, the company will continue to improve this hugely popular model. Cherokee SUV has been around in its current form since 2013. What sets this SUV apart from the ever-growing competition is a measure of ruggedness that is traditionally associated with the Jeep brand. Although the Cherokee’s current iteration was initially criticized for its unconventional front fascia, the model has become quite successful. Apart from its rugged appearance and proper off-road credentials, the Cherokee is one of the most comfortable family-haulers available on the market.
2018 Jeep Cherokee Exterior and Interior Design
Just like the outgoing model, the 2018 Jeep Cherokee will feature an exterior design. It strays from the traditional appearance of this long-lived model. Instead of the recognizable round headlights flanked by a 7-slot grille, the newest Cherokee comes with thin headlamps and a more aerodynamic front fascia. As part of the recent update, the model received HID headlights in all trim levels except for the Sport trim. Inside, the Cherokee features a blend of traditional Jeep styling cues and modern touches. The heated and ventilated front seats come covered in high-quality cloth or soft Nappa leather. These are equipped also with power adjustments and memory. The upcoming model is expected to offer a longer list of standard amenities across the range. Those including such features as a heated steering wheel, protective skid plates and a tow-prep package.
2018 Cherokee Engine Range
All Cherokee models come standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that gives 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. Unlike most of its rivals, Jeep’s small SUV offers a V6 engine under its hood as well. The 3.2-liter V6 churns out 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of twist, making the Cherokee able to tow up to 4,500 pounds. Both powertrains come paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Either in the front-wheel or four-wheel drive configuration. The 2018 Jeep Cherokee will be available with three different 4WD systems, including the Jeep Active Drive I, Jeep Active Drive II and the aggressive Jeep Active Drive Lock offered in the Cherokee Trailhawk.
