An all-new flagship Lexus is getting ready to hit the showrooms as a 2018 model. Namely, the company is launching the LC 500 in an attempt to shake up its image of a somewhat boring automaker. That said, expect this head-turning fastback coupe to mark a new era for Toyota’s luxury division. The 2018 Lexus LC 500 will actually be the first model using the new architecture that will underpin the next-generation rear-wheel drive Lexus cars. According to official sources, the new 2018 LC 500 is due to hit the U.S. market in May 2017.
Design and Features
Design-wise, the LC 500 takes its cues from the LF-LC concept that made its debut at the 2012 Detroit show. As a matter of fact, this stunning car is nearly identical to the concept model. It’s one of those rare examples of a concept turned into a production-ready vehicle with very few alterations. The 2018 Lexus LC 500 sports a new take on the dramatic Lexus grille, flanked by three-element headlights. It also comes with a jet-style canopy, while the back side boasts 3D-effect taillights.
Although the interior offers a more conventional styling, it benefits from high-end materials with a particular attention to detail. The cabin gets exceptional leather stitching as well as a bevy of unique styling cues. As a proper driver’s car, the 2018 Lexus LC 500 offers a cockpit focused on the instrument cluster. It also gets an advanced infotainment system with a large touchpad interface. Some of the standard safety features include adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation.
2018 Lexus LC 500 Specs
Standard models will use the same 5.0-liter V8 that powers the GS F and RC F. However, several tweaks make this engine produce 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque in the new LC 500. A ten-speed automatic transmission conveys the engine’s power to the rear wheels. As for the hybrid-powered LC 500h, it uses an Atkinson-cycle 3.5-liter V6 combined with two electric generators. The gas-electric system produces 354 horsepower, using a pseudo continuously variable automatic transmission.
When it comes to the 2018 Lexus LC 500 price tag, expect both variants to start under the $100,000 mark. According to the latest reports, the non-hybrid LC 500 will be priced at $92,975. As for the gas-electric Lexus LC 500h price will start at $97,485.
