The Porsche Macan is currently one of the very few performance-oriented models in the SUV segment that has expanded rapidly over the last several years. Arriving for the 2014 model year, this amazing compact crossover became one of the fastest all-wheel drive models in mass production. Now, the 2018 Porsche Macan is due to adopt only subtle enhancements compared to its predecessor. Porsche believes that its sporty SUV won’t need any dramatic changes to take on the recently launched Jaguar F-Pace and Maserati Levante. As of the 2017 MY, the Macan lineup includes the GTS model that slots between the S version and the high-performance Macan Turbo. There is also a new base model powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
2018 Macan Facelift
Design-wise, the 2018 Porsche Macan won’t stray too far from the current version that resembles the larger Porsche Cayenne 2018 to great extent. We might see certain tweaks concentrated on the front fascia, while the rest of the vehicle should remain unchanged. What makes this model unique in this segment is its profile which gives it an appearance more akin to a tall hatchback than a regular SUV. The GTS and Turbo models will sport a more aggressive front end than the entry-level Macan and the S model. As for the interior, the Macan offers a five-passenger configuration in two rows and a bevy of high-end features. For instance, the highly comfortable front seats come in 8-way to 18-way power-adjusting versions. Also, the cabin can be had in a wide variety of colors and luxury materials such as leather and suede-like Alcantara. However, the cargo space is one of few areas in which the Macan lags behind its competition. There is only 17.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity which can be expanded to 53 cubic feet by folding down the rear seats.
Porsche Macan Engine Department
The recently introduced entry-level Macan will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The 2018 Porsche Macan S will get a twin-turbocharged V6 that generates 340 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque, while the GTS model will be propelled by the same unit tuned to produce 360 hp and 369 lb-ft. Finally, the 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 will motivate the Macan Turbo that should have 400 hp and 406 lb-ft of twist at its disposal.
