BMW M9 Specs

Rumor has it that BMW might launch its first proper supercar BMW M9 within the next few years. Last year, we have been given a hint by BMW CEO Franciscus van Meel who stated that the all-new sports coupe will feature a number of advanced materials. Those are carbon fiber and reinforced plastic as well as potent drivetrains. It was initially expected to arrive sometime in 2016 to mark the company’s 100th anniversary, it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer for the stunning new BMW M9. According to some sources, we could see a concept model that announces the production-ready version at one of the upcoming motor shows.

Design and Features

As for the exterior styling, we can currently rely mostly on renders of the upcoming BMW M9. Based on several independent reports, it seems that the performance-oriented M9 is most likely to be borrow some of the styling cues from the i8 including its lightweight construction. On the other hand, it is due to bring a number of unique design elements as well as features associated with BMW’s M Performance division. So, expect to see a futuristic sheet metal with lots of creases and sharp angles that will give this model a head-turning look. Of course, the use of lightweight materials such as aluminum, carbon-fiber and magnesium will make the M9 exceptionally agile and maneuverable.

When it comes to the interior, more substantial reports have yet to come. We expect the BMW M9 to outdo all of the currently available BMW models in terms of refinement and quality. It goes without saying that the Bavarian automaker will use this supercar to flaunt its latest technological breakthroughs.

BMW M9 Horsepower

The BMW M9 is speculated to adopt an enhanced version of one of BMW’s current powertrains that should develop more than 500 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque. Some sources suggest that its power could come from the 3.2-liter TwinPower Turbo V6 mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to its exceptionally low curb weight, the M9 will have no trouble hitting the 60 mph limit in less than 3.0 seconds. Hopefully, more information related to engine specs will surface in the next few months.

The arrival of the brand new M9 will be warmly welcomed by BMW enthusiasts all around the world. Launching this amazing model will be the perfect opportunity for the renowned automaker to offer a genuine supercar after more than a century in the automotive business. So, the BMW M9 could become a worthy rival to likes of Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini.
